Feed hoppers

Feed hoppers guide material into crushers, mills and so on. The relevant variables here are similar to those in a transfer chute – particle size, material velocity, throughput and stickiness. The solutions are similar too.

If the transported material tends to stick to the lining, always consider a ceramic and rubber hybrid, which is also an excellent choice for dealing with high material velocity. This solution would be ideal when working with slurry or fine dry particles.

If there are any concerns about structural damage to the hopper from impact and vibrations, then rubber liners are often the best choice, with their superior flexibility and bounce capabilities. For high throughput applications involving large rocks and excessive wear, you should again look to the HX900.

In the final part of the Knowledge Hub’s exploration of wear materials, we’ll look at the extraordinary properties of Cast-In-Carbide.
